80s playlist.

Say what you will about the 80s, a decade long maligned for bad fashion, and some of the biggest and worst hairstyles in modern history. However, during this time, major medical advances were made, including the MRI. Oh, and Prozac. Many of the most popular consumer products still around today were invented in the 80s, such as cell phones, Mac and PC computers, and Microsoft Windows. Some of the greatest movies ever produced were made during this time period and are now cult classics, like Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The Breakfast Club, St. Elmo’s Fire, Pretty in Pink, The Goonies, Sixteen Candles, Ghostbusters and Dirty Dancing. And, let’s not forget about the music. Some of the greatest bands, whether you like them or not, were born out of this ten year era; Duran Duran, Bon Jovi, Ozzy Osbourne, Mike and The Mechanics, and Tears For Fears, to name a few. Meanwhile, other bands that were already around became their most popular and successful in the 80s, including Chicago, Genesis, The Cars, REO Speedwagon and Journey. Every now and again, when I am feeling a little 80s nostalgia, I throw on a pair a rainbow colored leg-warmers over my leotards, Velcro fasten my white leather high tops, pull my severely oversized acrylic sweater over my fluorescent scrunchy fastened teased out ponytail and dance around my house with reckless abandon to my favorite 80s tunes.  What?  It’s not like anyone can see me.
