Whatever year-end set of holidays you celebrate, or none at all, most people have time off between Christmas and the New Year. In the western world, a few of these days are even statutory. Many businesses and services are closed. This leaves one with mandatory time off. For me, like most I am certain, I use this time as an opportunity to reflect on my life, my family, my friends, the year about to come to a close and what the future will bring forth. While my words may not be particularly poignant, the following holiday themed quotes are a few of those that are.
“It is tenderness for the past, courage for the present, hope for the future. It is a fervent wish that every cup may overflow with blessings rich and eternal, and that every path may lead to peace.” – Agnes M. Pharo
“Come, woo me, woo me, for now I am in a holiday humor, and like enough to consent.” – William Shakespeare
“As we struggle with shopping lists and invitations, compounded by December’s bad weather, it is good to be reminded that there are people in our lives who are worth this aggravation, and people to whom we are worth the same.” – Donald E. Westlake
“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart. Wishing you happiness.” – Helen Keller
“The holiest of holidays are those kept by ourselves in silence and apart; The secret anniversaries of the heart.” – Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
