2013 was an eventful year in our lives. A series of both good, sad and ugly moments befell us. We lost two of our beloved, long-time pets, Lucy, our German Wire-Haired Pointer, and Mom Cat, our Calico, well, cat. The causes were beyond our control and without getting into detail included tragic, upsetting events. There were also a number of serious health scares and realities, for us as well as close members of our families, and incredibly trying times professionally. I have come to find that life is all about balance, where there are demonstrably bad times, inversely there are wonderfully good times. During the past year I was fortunate to have travelled with one of my sisters, Wendy, to Jamaica. I also travelled to New York City with my close friend and her daughter, Stephanie and Addison respectively. My husband and I travelled to London and the UK with my parents. My Dad celebrated his 60th birthday and my parents celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. I was lucky to have spent time with close friends and family. We rescued a dog, Max, from a local fostering network. All in all, when I look back over the past year, yes, I do recall the bad times, but what stands out most in my mind are those blessed moments in time. Here are some of the photos that showcase the happy memories. I am looking forward to seeing what 2014 has in store for us…..
Market in Jamaica. The bright colours were mesmerizing, much to the delight of the vendors.
My sister, Wendy, and I on a Jamaican ocean cruise.
Beach view of a local fishing boat at Jamaica.
Winter fun with goods friends; ice fishing on Lake of the Woods.
Times Square, Midtown, New York City.
A view from the top of the Empire State Building; looking at lower Manhattan.
The Brooklyn Bridge with my great friend, Stephanie, and her daughter, Addison.
On a spring (though, it does look a lot more like winter) hiking and photo-taking adventure with a friend, Tanis.
My family at my Dad’s 60th surprise birthday party.
At a successful trade show event with my loving husband, Larry (seated).
Furniture that my talented and generous husband crafted and donated to a local dog fostering network for a charity event; incidentally from where we later this year adopted our dog, Max. It is hard to tell from these photos, but he also carved paw prints into each piece.
A day at the [spa] beach with my niece, Avery, and nephew, Aiden. Fun with mud!
Hanging out with my friend Stephanie on a warm, sunny, Fall day. This is the silhouette of her daughter, Addison, with Lake of the Woods in the background.
One of the beautiful foggy fall views on my drive to work.
Mom and Dad in an English Pub, London, October 6th, 2013; their 40th Wedding Anniversary.
Larry on the Westminster Bridge, London.
Light leak; Stonehenge, UK.
A view of St. Paul’s Cathedral from Millennium Bridge, London (Mom and Dad, right).
Viewscape from the top of Tower Bridge, London.
A London pub, of course.
Max and Kitten. Incidentally, Kitten is five years old. We aren’t terribly creative with names.
Holiday themed cocktail party with good friends. Oh, and photo props.
Looking forward to new memories in 2014! Happy New Year!
